Casino money going to variety of projects

The United Auburn Indian Community is awarding more than $325,000 to
cities and Placer County to mitigate impacts of the Thunder Valley
Casino near Lincoln.
The grants are going to public agencies to fight crime, control
traffic, reduce air pollution, buy new equipment and repair
roads.
The grants include:
- $90,000 to the Roseville -Police Department for evening traffic and drunken-driving -enforcement
- $65,000 to the county Public Works Department for the Fiddyment Road asphalt concrete overlay project
- $50,000 to Placer's air pollution control district for motor -vehicle emission reductions.
- $40,000 to Lincoln for the proposed Twelve Bridges overcrossing and interchange expansion at Highway 65.
- $30,666 to the District Attorney's Office for criminal prosecutions.
- $27,915 to the county's sexual assault response team for -forensic and medical-examination equipment.
- $22,205 to the Lincoln Police Department for its Police Activities League.
The funds are prescribed by a state law intended to help mitigate
impacts caused by a tribal gaming casino on local jurisdictions.
