Casino owners give cash

The United Auburn Indian Community, owners of the Thunder Valley Casino, has announced its first quarter cash donations totaling $231,410 to Placer County charities and service groups. The Salvation Army of Auburn received $50,000, while Lincoln High School was given $44,410 for its sports programs.

The American Indian scholarship programs at American River and Sierra Colleges received a combined $40,000. St. Vincent de Paul Society of Roseville and Riding High, a therapeutic equine-assisted program designed to help at-risk youths and adults, will receive $25,000 each.

The Gathering Inn Inc. will receive $15,000 for its homeless program, while Cornerstone Christian School will get $12,000 for playground equipment.

The Boys & Girls Club of North Tahoe will receive $10,000, as will Weimar Hills School, which plans a renovation of its sports fields.
