An Auburn Job Fair is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct.
12 at the Gold Country Fairgrounds. Hosted by the Business Advantage
Network, it will feature 100 employers including government, clerical,
customer service, medical retail sales, utilities, manufacturing, law
enforcement, staff services, training agencies and more.
Among the participants that have signed up already are Caltrans, City
of Roseville, FedEx Express, Home Depot, Franchise Tax Board, Placer
County Sheriff's Department, Placer County, Manpower Staffing, Thunder
Valley Casino and Sutter Health.
There also will be résumé critiquing onsite.
Sponsors of the job fair are the Placer County Office of Economic
Development, Gold Country Media and the Auburn Chamber of
Commerce.
The fair has doubled in size in the past five years.
"We've had employers say it is the best job fair in the Sacramento
region," said Cindy Burris of the Placer County Office of Economic
Development.
A big reason for the success is the diverse pool of candidates the fair
attracts.
"It's not just the variety of employers, but the type of job seekers
and the large variety of people who attend," she said.
The last job fair, held in May, attracted 4,000 to 5,000 jobs seekers,
Burris said.
"This is a great event and we're always looking for ways to help the
public, whether it is someone looking for their first job, re-entering
the workforce or looking to supplement their income just for the
upcoming holiday season," she said.
For employers who want to participate, the no-fee registration form can
be obtained by e-mailing Burris at cburris@placer.ca.gov or for more
