$1M donation helps Capital Unity center

Sacramento Business Journal - 10:47 AM PDT Tuesday
by Mark Anderson, Staff writer

The United Auburn Indian Community, owners of Thunder Valley Casino, will present a $1 million check to the Capital Unity Council at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the site of the council's future center at 16th and N streets in downtown Sacramento.

The council is a catalyst to show the strength of diversity.

The council focuses on creating experiences that reveal prejudice, discrimination and stereotypes through a series of group and individual activities. Visitors are motivated to take responsibility for their actions and make choices that unite people. The center will use UAIC's donation help finance the construction of a new building where it will hold programs to help foster cultural acceptance and awareness.
