
Gabe Cayton serves as Vice Chairman of the United Auburn Indian Community (UAIC) Tribal Council, a position he has held since December 2025. A respected and experienced tribal leader, Cayton has dedicated nearly a decade to public service on behalf of the Tribe, with a strong focus on long-term stability, economic strength, and the multi-generational well-being of UAIC members.
Before being elected Vice Chairman, Cayton served as Secretary of the UAIC Tribal Council from January 2022 through October 2024, and previously as Council Member at Large from January 2017 through January 2022. Throughout his tenure, he has played a key role in guiding the Tribe through periods of growth, industry competition, and unprecedented challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cayton currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for both the UAIC Development Corporation and Thunder Valley Casino Resort, one of the largest and most successful tribal gaming operations in the nation. Before joining the Tribal Council, he served on several UAIC committees, including the Education Committee, Finance Committee, Enrollment Committee, and Election Committee, gaining hands-on experience in governance, financial oversight, and tribal operations.
As a tribal leader, Cayton is deeply committed to honoring UAIC Elders, protecting tribal assets, and ensuring that future generations benefit from the Tribe’s success. He frequently represents the Tribe at the state and federal levels, as well as before local governments, and works diligently to keep tribal members informed about political, economic, and regulatory issues affecting the community.
Cayton holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of San Francisco and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University. He brings a thoughtful, steady approach to leadership that reflects both respect for tradition and a forward-looking vision for the Tribe’s future.
